Lessons from the Nest

Did you know that a hummingbird nest is fused together with spiders webs?

As I anticipated when the 2 little eggs outside my office window were going to hatch, I heard an increase in tweeting birds only to discover that it was not coming from the little hummingbird nest.

After watching and waiting to see the Mother hummingbird to come sit on her eggs for a week we decided to climb up and take a peak inside. Inside we could see that one egg was cracked open unsuccessful of a little chick and the other delicate egg was unhatched.

I began to research for possible reasons why the Mother did not return. It may have been that the temperatures here got too hot and the Mother knew that her eggs did not make it, or it may be that something happened to her in the increase of other twittering activities going on.

We waited another week to be sure and then Steve and I decided to bring the little nest in.

I am even more amazed with our little home builders abilities. Up close the nest appears to be ridged but it is actually soft and springy like a cotton ball. Created with the use of silken spiders webs, feathers and other such natural materials. I marvel at the perfection, the natural instincts, the ability, the effort and skill to make such a fine home.

I feel sad that this little hummingbird family did not make it. I miss watching the diligent Mother at work. The nest brightened each day as we observed the miracle taking place before us.

I feel so grateful that I was permitted observe this little wonder. I have pondered the lessons of the nest for me and why this experience has touched my heart in such a unique way. I realized that although this nest did not have all the action we hoped it would, it has made a BIG impact in our hearts. Some of my lessons from the nest are these.
  1. Life is a precious miracle.
  2. Family relationships are the most important.
  3. Family relationships provide perfect opportunities for growth.
  4. Relationships are dynamic living things that need nurture and care to grow.
  5. Family relationships require protection and vigilance from danger.
  6. Family relationships need a quantity of time, quality time and our presence in each moment.
  7. Love matters most.
  8.  Family relationships need our very, very best.
  9. On earth and in heaven there is no place like home.
There is a tenderness each time I look out the window, use the front door or see the precious little nest now resting inside my office. It is a reminder to me that we all desire a place to feel safe; A place we can give and receive love and a place we can call home.

If you know this place may you be vigilant.
If you have not yet found it may you begin to create it.
And may God bless you and yours
as I pray for His blessings upon me and mine:)

SMART TIME ASSIGNMENT # 8
Listen for 3 of  your favorite take-a-ways from this talk,
Anything that stands out for you personally at this time?
Anything that you have experienced for yourself?
For those of you interested and able to connect for a 30 minute group call
to have a discussion please message me so we can set this up.

SMART TIME ASSIGNMENT # 9
This idea comes from Anasazi and The Arbinger Institute.
During a lunch break while attending an Arbinger training course we were asked
to BE AWARE of others around us as people instead of things, such as the waiter or waitress, the sales person, the person driving car and so on.
Since then it is amazing the difference it makes as I to strive to be aware and improve.
This is an opportunity to really strive to seek for the light in others.
As we find some who's light may be faint, may we help them to make it bright.

SMART TIME TARGETS 4-5-6

Invitation #4
This is one of my favorite ways to begin each day.
I love to do this when the house is very quiet and free from distractions.
It is a way we can really begin to focus on increasing our relationship with God.

Invitation #5
Reminds us of the many wonderful people we have in our lives.
It helps us to remember to breath.
It helps us to remember that the things that we think matter.
It helps us to see and look for the best in others.
It fills us with gratitude and encourages us to tell others about the good we see in them.
If you want take just one person and think of 15 things you love about them.

Invitation #6
Can be a very sacred experience. It has the potential to  have amazing benefits.
This is an example of individual energy work at it's finest.

A wonderful energy practitioner named Jolene Victor shared the idea of talking spirit to spirit with me during my first ever energy session. About 4:00 am the next day I sat in my pajamas on the concrete drive way looking into the sky as the stars began to fade into the sun rise. I sat here while I poured out my soul to my loved one believing that the message of my heart could reach theirs. And I had nothing to loose trying it.
Where my loved one was in life, they could not hear the words spoken even if we were sitting in the same room. I felt I had lost this person. My heart was broken and I had reached a point where I knew I could not keep living my life with all those feelings plugged up inside me. I had to do something. I shared all the feelings of my heart and mind and sent them off with a prayer..
As I finished that morning inner peace came. Divine trust was key.
Overtime I have been blessed to see miracles take place. What I feared was once lost, was found again, better than I knew possible.

SMART TIME TARGET #6 is a very sacred and special to me. So I share it with a lot of love. Some shifts may happen immediately and some may take time. It may bring clarity about where you stand and what you feel, It may shed light on what you can and cannot do to help. It is an opportunity for hope and healing to begin.

Stillness

For the past 15 years I love to watch hummingbirds. There little wings go so fast and they have such skills at flying forward or backward and all ways in between it seems. As I sit in my office facing the window I see this little visitor and it seems that she is storing food in little slots along the siding...then My husband noticed this nest last week.

When we leave the house there is a scurry to the big tree ahead. On guard at all times.
I know of many parents that give 100%  into building a beautiful home and being on guard to ensure the safety, protection and nurture of their families.
I want to say thank you to all parents for doing their best under all kinds of different circumstances.
Until today I have never seen how still and calm a hummingbird can be.
I hope in your busy lives you will find the time to nurture yourselves so you have even more to give and to love one another as you take the time to love yourself.
Receive Fullness & Give Fully.

Smart Time Targets 1-2-3

Invitation 1-2-3 or Saturday - Sunday - Monday:)

SMART TIME TARGET #1 - Get an empowerment journal
SMART TIME TARGET #2 - Ponder, Fast & Pray

Our introductory Empowerment Tool (or ET) will be the opportunity to FAST.

A way to serve others in need is to fast. Fasting is going without food or drink for two consecutive meals in a 24-hour period of time and then giving that which is of equal or greater value from the food that would have been eaten to those in need.

The time that we would normally take to prepare and eat food present us with an opportunity to focus in studying, pondering and prayer. The times when our bodies desire food can be a reminder to check in with Heaven. Fasting is a time to prayerfully look up with our heart's and mind's to seek God's will in our lives.

SMART TIME TARGET #3 - Writing assignment

Discovering our Purposes
I say purposes because we have many times and seasons in our lives along with multiple purposes. Our desire at this time is to become clear on which are most important at this time.

Here are some thoughts and questions to assist your writing:
1) I am in currently in ________ season of my life.
2) What am I now best suited to do?
3) How, Who and Where am I needed most?
4) If I knew what God wanted me to focus on it would be.....
5) With this information what are 2 things I take action on?

As you write just let things flow - it doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to make sense write away. Feel free to write in point form or try placing your pen on the paper and then do not let it off until you feel finished. The important part is just to allow for discovery.

The Art of Letting Go

5 years ago today my youngest of three children graduated from High School. On that same day I let go of my position as the dance teacher at Heritage Academy in Mesa, Arizona. A perfectly placed opportunity in my life.

It was not just a great job, to me it was my calling. This opportunity was perfectly placed in my life, on many levels I had been preparing for this time all of my life. I felt so blessed and so privileged with this opportunity that I never took it lightly or for granted.

The job was bigger than me. I struggled often with feeling that I was not enough., I prayed so much that I developed a partnership with God, in order to fulfilling my role each day. I wanted to teach and love the students in a way he would want me to.

Alone I was not enough, but with God he made my impossible - I'm possible. I was given tips, guidance, direction, and lessons a little at a time. After trusting in each of the little thing later I could look back and see the wonderful miracles that God had performed.

Teaching dance was the objective for anyone looking in, but deep within was a unique opportunity to really teach important principles and tools that would prepare these students to continue to be amazing individuals; to be a positive influence and be about doing good throughout their lives. The understanding of what brings true and lasting happiness was conveyed in the plies and pirouettes.

5 years later I see them getting married and beginning families of their own. I see them graduating from college and shinning their own unique lights and I feel blessed that I was given the special season to come to know. Lessons learned while having fun were planted and as their teacher I probably had the most to learn from them.

In feeling that the time had come for me to Let Go and allow this opportunity to another I prayed for help to find the right person for the position.

It was a time for a lot of change, which also meant a lot of growth. And as seasons for change are a guarantee in this life I want to remember the awesome lessons in the art of letting go and be sure to continue to apply them.
  1. Fulfilling a deeper purpose beyond ourselves allows for the greatest joys.
  2. Trust in God in the little and BIG things. Trust Completely.
  3. As we do our best in each moment, even thought we still make mistakes, we will have peace.
  4. Give ALL and a little bit more.
  5. Everything good in our lives comes from God.
  6. Believe - "The BEST is yet to BE."
  7. Letting Go allows proof that we are ready for even more.
To benefit the youth which I had been entrusted with and the teacher that was chosen to take my place, I felt impressed to divulge all the magical inspiration that I had been entrusted with. Holding these back in any way would have been very selfish of me. I had loved the students while I was there and I would continue to love them as I let go.

6 months later as I went to visit my old classroom it appeared to me that it had not missed a beat and into my heart came a great sense of peace and satisfaction. I had done all that I could.

I feel so grateful for all the perfect opportunities that are placed along my path.  I strive to remember that God knows exactly what we His children need, even if we can not feel it or see it. And when we are asked to Let Go may we truly do so with trust in Him.
